Numerical calculations are used on various occasions in the fields of particle, nuclear, and astronomical sciences. Today, personal computers have ability to solve substantial problems. However, it is necessary to use larger computers in order to stand in the forefront of the research in which numerical calculations play a central role. In the forefront, techniques for making effective use of the CPU and parallelizing the computation are more important than in small computations. A little modification often makes the calculation many times faster. Prior to that, it is also important to use computational methods appropriate for the problem. These things are often handled by individual researchers independently. Therefore, many researchers may have the same problems. Also, it happens that an approach in common sense in some fields is not known in other fields. To solve these problems, enable whole researchers to use computers more efficiently and share computational techniques, we organize user-support team by researchers of particle, nuclear, astronomical and computational sciences. At the request of computer user, the members of the user-support team will consider
- optimization of programs for scientific calculation,
- basic structure of programs and algorithm to use,
- parallelization of serial program and extension to large-scale calculation,
and related problems, then they will advise the computer users and/or make suggestions. Problems on any platform or architecture will be considered in order to help development of whole the society of particle, nuclear and astronomical sciences of Japan. A support-team member in charge will respond. There is no deadline of the request. If you have questions or comments, please let us know using the same form. Once the support is finished, we would like to make the support process public on this web site. By this, technical information on computation will be shared beyond the borders of the fields. We also encourage collaborations between the fields.
